A mixture of interesting and eco friendly materials make this house naturally durable.

A house built in the 1980’s with a separate garage underwent extensive alterations and a contemporary re-design to accommodate a family of four.

The garage was upgraded with new cladding, a mono-pitch roof and connected to the upper floor of the house via an enclosed ‘bridge’, to allow easy access to the new studio in the garage and to the street.

The main house received new cladding, new joinery and a new mono-pitch roof. The basement floor was extended to add another bedroom, as was the living room, and a generous deck was added, from which to enjoy the sea views.

A new stairwell with ceiling height glazing was created, connecting the three levels and allowing the occupants to experience the dense native bush on the South-East of the house.
